A Bashir Badr Poem on Friendship
मिल भी जाते हैं तो कतरा के निकल जाते हैं
-- बशीर बद्र
मिल भी जाते हैं तो कतरा के निकल जाते हैं
हाये मौसम की तरह दोस्त बदल जाते हैं
हम अभी तक हैं गिरफ़्तार-ए-मुहब्बत यारो
ठोकरें खा के सुना था कि सम्भल जाते हैं
ये कभी अपनी जफ़ा पर न हुआ शर्मिन्दा
हम समझते रहे पत्थर भी पिघल जाते हैं
उम्र भर जिनकी वफ़ाओं पे भरोसा कीजे
वक़्त पड़ने पे वही लोग बदल जाते हैं

Mil bhi jaate hain to katra ke nikal jaate hain
Hai! Mausam ki tarah dost badal jaate hain
Hum abhi tak hain giraftaar-e-muhabbat yahon
Thokarein kha ke suna tha ki sambhal jaate hain
Ye kabhi apni jafa par na huaa sharminda
Hum samajhte rahe patthar bhi pighal jaate hain
Umr bhar jin ki vafaon pe bharosa keeje
Waqt padne pe vahi log badal jaate hain

You can't shower your love on people who don't deserve it. Good that they left and made space for those who may be truly deserving.
Dost duur ho sakte hain, juda ho sakte hain, par dosti kaayam rehti hai.
Jo mausam ki tarah badal gaye vo dost the hi nahi :))
